MIAMI, Fla. — A woman who ran a scam that involved returning shoplifted lingerie from Victoria’s Secret stores is now booked into jail.
Nathilia N. Hooks, according to The Sun-Sentinel, was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail on charges of retail theft, grand theft, organized fraud and money laundering.
Police say she made off with about $53,000 in a scam that involved returning stolen underwear.
They allege that she would shoplift items, remove the security devices, and then take the items to the cashier and exchange them for slightly more expensive items. She charged the difference between the new items and the returned items to her debit card.
She would then take the returned items to another Victoria’s Secret store and request a full refund, which would be credited to her debit account.
Hooks started running the scam in 2013.
