COLLEGE STATION – Police arrested a woman for shoplifting $500 in lingerie and $200 worth of T-shirts from Post Oak Mall.
An off-duty deputy, working security at the mall, came into contact with Ann Johnson about 6:00 p.m. Friday. She was yelling at a Dillard’s clerk, accusing the department store of losing her drivers license. The deputy suggested she check the clothes she had on earlier in the day when she and her boyfriend attempted to shoplift from there.
The deputy told Johnson to leave the store and warned she would be charged with criminal trespass if she came back.
On her way out, Johnson threatened to call her dad who she claims is an FBI agent working in Iraq.
About an hour later, the deputy spotted Johnson walking back into Dillards. She begged and pleaded with the deputy to let her go saying going through Dillard’s was the only way back to her car.
The deputy detained Johnson. When he searched the three bags she was carrying, there were no receipts and some of the items had security tags removed.
According to the probable cause statements, Johnson stole seven t-shirts and a sweat shirt from ‘Zumies’ worth $216.28. She also took a large stash of lingerie from Victoria’s Secret, including bras, panties and thongs, worth $445.67.
Johnson is charged with criminal trespass and two counts of theft of property.
