FANCY a pint with this bevy of beauties?
Beer-lovers will get more than they bargained for at a Durham City pub when it’s taken over by lingerie models.
From cupid’s wings to suspender belts, the scantily-clad ladies will be strutting their stuff in a host of racy numbers for a special fashion and burlesque show.
Inspired by the forthcoming release of risqué film Fifty Shades of Grey, the girls will be going on the lash at The John Duck pub in Claypath.
The girls were roped in to taking part in the show by Durham midwife-turned businesswoman Annette Keelty who runs lingerie boutique, Lingerie by Annette.
“The models will all be wearing a Valentine’s range by Bluebella, a designer used in the film,” she said. “As far as I know I’m the only stockist of the brand in the North East. The collection is a bit different and edgy, it’s great for women’s self esteem. The collection is for everybody, it goes from size 8 to 22. You don’t have to be tiny to be sexy. Big girls are beautiful too.”
Speaking about the effect of the film, which is based on the racy novel which became a global sensation, she said: “The book has been hugely popular and I think it’s encouraged women to be more open about sex and think of it more as fun.
“It seems to have given women the permission to be more themselves when choosing lingerie, and not just think about what would appeal to guys.
“During my time as a midwife, I spent 24 years working with women and babies and I think women deserve to feel stunning.”
The fashion show will take place on February 11 and will feature burlesque acts, as well as the lingerie catwalk show and the chance to buy some of the items.
Jo Ferry, The John Duck bar manager, said: “We’ve not done any shows like this before at the pub, but when Annette approached us we jumped at the chance. Who doesn’t want to see half-naked ladies in a pub? I think it will be very popular with our regulars.
“The great thing is that burlesque is very woman-friendly so I think it will appeal to everyone.”
l The Lingerie by Annette fashion show takes place at The John Duck Pub from 8pm on February 11. Entry is free.
