A woman faces jail after allegedly embezzling a staggering $80,000 of university funds on sex toys, clothes and DVDs on how to lose weight.

Cynthia Shirleen Low, 46, is accused of using a credit card issued by Oklahoma State University, where she worked as a senior financial assistant in the chemistry department, for the shopping sprees.

It is believed she bought items ‘that would not be used by the OSU chemistry department’ between 2008 and 2010, according to records.

Purchases named as ‘lab equipment’ in university records were in reality items such as a DVD player, an
underwater puzzle and booty shorts.

She spent $2,300 on sex toys, lingerie and other clothing, $530 on makeup and $284 on video games and DVDs, including one on how to lose weight.

She allegedly bought four sex toys from Amazon.com and marked them as computer supplies in university logs.

Low, who was supposed to use the taxpayer-funded credit card to buy laboratory and office supplies, was ordered to trial during a preliminary hearing on Thursday.

She faces up to 10 years in state prison and a hefty fine if convicted.

Low resigned from her job at the university in Stillwater, Oklahoma in February 2010.

A fellow employee approached
university police a month later, saying she believed Low had used her
university-issued credit card for personal items.

She took several invoices to police, allegedly showing that Low had doctored receipts to make the purchases look legitimate.

Investigators also found evidence of invoice tampering on Low’s work computer.

The suspect and her husband, Tommy Alan Low, filed for bankruptcy protection in June 2008, claiming more than $150,000 in debt.

Authorities say the embezzlement began a month later.

Witnesses listed in court documents included Frank Blum, of the university’s chemistry department, and Brenna Dixon, a forensic accountant in the university controller’s office..

Low remains free on $25,000 bail and is due back in court December 30 for an arraignment.

You stole the words right out of my mouth. Obviously, the diet DVD’s were not informative enough. She spent about $3K on the goodies, where did the rest of it go? Snacks, perhaps?

Sex toys and lingerie? …After seeing her picture, I can honestly say….no-one wanted to know that….

You could’ve use the money wisely, namely a good plastic surgeon.
