HARKER HEIGHTS (December 9, 2011)—The theft of a video game Friday morning from the Toys-R-Us store in Killeen led to a high-speed chase that wound through neighborhoods and onto U.S. Highway 190.
A patrol officer spotted two men Friday morning running out of the store at 2500 East Central Texas Expressway with the stolen PlayStation 3 and employees in pursuit.
He tried to stop the two, but they jumped into a Toyota Corolla in which a woman was waiting and sped off.
Police pursued the car at speeds of 50 to 60 miles per hour through residential neighborhoods and at speeds as high as 85 miles per hour on eastbound Highway 190.
The chase ended in Harker Heights when the three were forced to stop because of a train at a crossing on FM 3219.
Officers recovered the stolen PlayStation and a quantity of lingerie including bras and panties.
Police aren’t sure where the lingerie came from.
The three were detained and later arrested for theft over $50, but under $500 and are also suspected in an earlier theft from a Killeen Family Dollar store, police said.
The man who was driving the car is also facing a felony evading arrest charge.
The names of the three weren’t released Friday.
