Aerie, American Eagle’s lingerie brand, has captured the hearts of young women by using relatable models.

Aerie stopped retouching images last year.

Since removing altered images from its advertising arsenal, Aerie has seen a huge payoff. On a conference call last year the brand said sales had climbed 9%.

These images from the lingerie company’s Instagram — featuring women who are far more relatable than Victoria’s Secret models — help show why Aerie is such a competitive name in the lingerie business.
