When sisters Jeanie Peterson and Cindy Johnson started SOL Store of Lingerie15 years ago, the idea of being fitted for a bra was foreign to many women. So, too, was the thought of spending $100 for such a garment. But SOL has proven there is a business to be made in selling expensive lingerie and providing personal service. The sisters (shown at left) carry designs by such top French firms as Aubade and Lise Charmel and since opening, have carried the Marie Jo “daisy” bra, so named for

the floral motif on its straps. The bra cost $98 when SOL opened (it’s now $112) and is still their best-selling design, Johnson says. What makes it so expensive? Quality, design and construction, according to the intimates expert. A high-quality bra has 40-50 pieces and is a complicated item to make. Everything from the fabric to the lace, elastic, hardware and thread have to be selected and tested for fit and durability, she says. She’ll share this knowledge and more when the store hosts an anniversary party from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 29. They’ll have entertainment, champagne and cupcakes, and will be introducing the newest color of the daisy bra, a purple that looks very much like the shade used by the Colorado Rockies. A portion of the event’s sales will benefit the Morgan Adams Foundation, which raises money for pediatric cancer. 248 Detroit St., 303-394-1060. sollingerie.com
