Mother Nature is taking us on a roller-coaster ride through the next week of weather, which could include snow this weekend and 60-degree temperatures next week.

Up to 4 inches of snow could fall in the Lower Hudson Valley late Saturday night into early Sunday during the overnight hours and slow travelers on Presidents Day weekend.

“It’s a relatively quick mover,” said Tom Kines, a meteorologist for AccuWeather. “If you go to bed early enough Saturday evening and get up late enough Sunday, you’re going to miss it.”

The storm will be sandwiched between mild stretches of weather that could feel like early spring.

Today should be warm, with temperatures reaching the mid-50s, according to the National Weather Service. There is an 80 percent chance of rain tonight, mainly after 8 p.m., as temperatures drop to the mid-40s, according to the weather service.

Temperatures could bounce back to the low 50s on Friday, but a breezy afternoon will make it feel cooler, said Kines.

“Even though the temperatures are going to be mild, it may not feel like it’s in the 50s because of the wind,” he said.

Friday morning will likely be rainy until about 11 a.m., according to the weather service. Temperatures are expected to plummet on Friday night into the teens and only climb back to the mid-30s on Saturday.

Morning sun should turn to evening flurries on Saturday as the region gets caught on the northern edge of a storm that is predicted to move northeast toward the East Coast.

There is a 70 percent chance of snow, with the potential for 2 to 4 inches in the area, according to the weather service. Kines said snow should fall overnight.

The weather will start to warm back up after that, with temperatures hitting the low 40s on Sunday and approaching 60 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the weather service.
