(Memphis 8/10/2011) The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is using social networking to help nab violent criminals like killers and rapists. With a growing “friends” list on Facebook, detectives are posting mugshots online.
“Pepsi and Coca Cola are using it to sell their products. Why can’t we use it to help catch criminals?” said Shelby County Detective Matthew Keaton.
You will find 29 pictures of people accused of murder and attempted murder, and 21 pictures of people accused of rape and attempted rape.
“The families of these victims deserve justice just as the victims deserve justice, just as much as the community of Memphis deserves for them not to be on the streets,” Det. Keaton said.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of criminals, you can call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH or leave a tip on Facebook.
