‘Sexiest Woman Alive’ Penelope Cruz loves tradition of lingerie – Standard

Academy-Award winning actress Penelope Cruz has been named Esquire magazine’s “Sexiest Woman Alive” for 2014.
Spanish-born Cruz turned 40 this year and in earning the sexy title she shatters some of the negative social stigmas around women and the aging process.

It was during the launch of her line of lingerie L’Agent on fashion retailer website Net-A-Porter that Cruz spoke about what women have been doing since the beginning of time, what she says is a timeless part of women’s fashion.
“I think everyone loves lingerie,” Cruz said. “It’s great to explore lingerie and what women were wearing under their clothes last century and the one before.”
“It’s a tradition that will never be old,” she added. “It’s a part of fashion that’s always going to be important for women.”
Cruz also wrote and directed her own television advertisement for L’Agent; viewer caution is advised because some moments are a little racy.
It’s no surprise these fashion pursuits come easily to Cruz; her mother owned a hair salon, so growing up she learned a few tricks of the trade.
With her Academy-Award winning husband Javier Bardem and their two children, Leo, 3, and Luna, 1, one thing’s for sure – the kids will have good hair!
