‘They were disingenuous to me’: Selina Waterman-Smith claims ‘issues’ with The Apprentice producers were the reason for her refusal to appear on spin-off

She has been one of this year’s most controversial candidates on The Apprentice.

And, after fans saw Selina Waterman-Smith lose her place in the competition on Wednesday night’s show, the businesswoman refused to appear on the spin-off show You’re Fired for the usual candidate debrief.

The 32-year-old – who was fired by Lord Sugar after failing to make a single sale in the property task – has now revealed her reasons for eschewing the secondary TV appearance in a video posted online.

Speaking to her fans, she explains that she opted out of the Jack Dee-fronted 2 programme because she had ‘some issues’ with the show’s production company, who had been ‘disingenuous’ towards her in recent weeks.

‘I just watched The Apprentice and yes, I have been fired. Boo! Basically, I’m not featured on You’re Fired this year as everybody knows. That’s largely due to some issues I had with the production company on the show, some of the stories they released about me into the press.’

She continued: ‘I felt that, not only were they untrue, they were very disingenuous towards me and in light of the fact they won’t retract them, I couldn’t work with that company any more.’

This followed her now-deleted tweet from several weeks ago, in which she revealed she had ‘broken contract’ with the show because she refused to appear.

The original post read: ‘On another note, I’ve broken contract with the show and I’m not doing You’re Fired – might be why they’re attacking me so much! Idiots.’

Selina lost her place in the competition after failing during the property selling task – she was one of two candidates to leave the show, as Scott Saunders sensationally opted to walk out following a showdown with Lord Sugar in the boardroom.

The Dubai-based professional also added that she still wanted to ‘talk to everybody about being fired’ and proceeded to conduct her own run-down of her time on the show in lieu of being interviewed in the normal manner.

She happily gushed about the friendships she made while on the challenging reality show, in which candidates fight for the right to become Lord Sugar’s business partner.

‘The good things about The Apprentice is that I met some absolutely amazing people. Obviously everybody knows myself and Elle Stevenson and Natatlie Dean are incredibly close. Without them I’d have gone completely insane.’

She went on to add that her fellow competitors Scott Saunders and Richard Woods are ‘phenomenal businessmen’.

Selina additionally stated that she enjoyed working on many different projects and learning new skills, before noting that she has been ‘overwhelmed’ by the support received on Twitter and Facebook, and that her fans have been able to see her for who she really is.

‘I appreciate all the messages from people on social media,’ she went on.

‘Your support means so much to me. In light of what’s come out in the papers I have people that are genuinely in my corner and notice the good things I do on tasks.

‘Even though they are often edited out, people have messaged me or stopped me in the street and taken the time to email me and say ‘we think you’ve done well’. It’s really very nice to hear that.’

She signed off with a promise that this ‘won’t be the last you see of me’.

Selina had previously taken the show to task, claiming that it is a ‘fix’ and also that show bosses had painted her to be a ‘spoilt, rich b***h’ for entertainment value.

Speaking to The Sun, the controversial contestant claimed the show was rigged from the start with bosses choosing their favourites before the process had even begun.

Comparing the process – which sees 18 professionals battle it out for a chance to go into business with Lord Alan Sugar – to Big Brother, she branded the show a joke.

‘I thought The Apprentice was a genuine business show, but now I know it’s just a Big Brother with business attached,’ she raged. ‘It’s all a total farce.’

Elaborating on her claims, Selina continued: ‘I’m convinced the bosses decide their favourites at the start – as well as who they will fire and when – and then just manipulate the situation.’

Pouring further scorn on the entire experience, Selina – who earlier this week stripped off for a racy lingerie shoot – said her portrayal on the show was all planned.

‘It was all clearly part of their plan,’ she railed, adding: ‘I was the spoilt, rich b***h.’

This followed another alleged tweet posted by her which, according to The Sun, was swiftly deleted.

The reality TV hopeful had reportedly posted on ‘The finalists are picked from the start, the whole show is fixed and set up.’

However a spokeswoman for the show said: ‘The show is in no way “fixed” and we strongly refute any insinuation to the contrary.

‘The final two candidates are decided on by Lord Sugar in the boardroom at the end of episode 11.’
