A lingerie shop has claimed customers could be put off their stock due to the smell of Greggs baked good.

Greggs are currently in the process of opening a new outlet on Belfast’s Royal Avenue.

But Bravissimo have got their knickers in a twist about their new neighbours.

The lingerie firm reckon the smell of baking sausage rolls and pasties could deter customers buying their smalls.

Director of Bravissimo, Mike Tremellen, opposed the planning permission Greggs is seeking to allow the sale of hot food.

Would the pleasant smell of pasties really put anyone off bras and pants?

A Greggs spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘As a responsible company we are happy to work with our neighbours to try to alleviate any concerns that they may have about our operations.

‘We intend to operate the store within the planning approvals already granted.’

Metro.co.uk also reached out to Bravissimo, though we’re yet to hear a response.

The Belfast Telegraph report that Tremellen’s objection said: ‘We have a shop floor and stock room directly above the proposed Greggs unit and we are extremely concerned that the cooking smells will permeate into our shop, not only making it an unpleasant environment for our customers to shop in, but making our stock unfit for sale.

‘Bravissimo’s operation is the retailing of lingerie and clothing made with materials that can pick up odours.’

Though Greggs fans on Facebook don’t really seem to mind a little waft of the firm’s scent on their kegs:
