A lingerie football team claim that they have been banned by the Football Association .

Formed last month in Manchester, the Lingerie Football League UK were planning to play in a fundraising tournament at the FA’s national hub at St. George’s Park.

But they claim they were told they could not compete because the game’s leaders decided that the event was inappropriate for their venues.

As a result, the FA have stopped them from playing at St. George’s Park and any other FA-affiliated ground.

Gemma Hughes, the league’s founder, says that they received no official communication from the FA and they found out that their event was cancelled over Twitter.

Speaking to The Sun , she said: “When I received an email from Just Giving on January 21 saying that the FA had been in touch and wanted us to take the fundraising page down I realised the FA had cancelled our event.”

But the FA soon hit back and a spokesperson revealed that bosses were not comfortable with the idea of the event.

They said: “This is nothing more than a PR stunt which leaves us comfortable with our decision to not take this booking.

“We have grown the women’s game to this point without her venture, and frankly will continue to do so without her assistance.”
