Ladies and Linebackers in Lingerie

The news cycle in Seattle sports has suffered from a lack of good news to report over the last few months. Everett already summed up the woeful Mariners season the other day, both the Storm and the Sounders bowed out of the playoffs early, and Tavaris Jackson has awarded himself an “F” for his performance as the Seahawks quarterback. But, before you go thinking that the life of a Seattle sports fans is a sad state, here’s a little bit of good news that slipped under the radar: back on September 30, the Seattle Mist put the smackdown on the Green Bay Chill 42-8.

We know what you’re probably asking yourself…who are the Seattle Mist? Well, they are our very own lingerie football team, and apparently they know their way around the gridiron. Before you go dismissing them though, think of how difficult it would be to play football and look good in lingerie at the same time. Or, if that’s not good enough, try and remember the last time the Seahawks beat anybody by 34 points. Now that we’re in the right frame of mind, let’s get to know the ladies of the Mist a little better.

Kam Warner, originally from Bakersfield, CA, wears several hats. As running back she put up a 105 yards in the Green Bay game before jumping in at middle linebacker to keep the Chill scoreless in the second half. The arm behind the offense is Angela Rypien from Spokane, who also fills in at safety when not throwing 35-yard touchdowns. Also pulling double duty is Jessica Hopkins, a member of the lingerie football league’s All-Fantasy team, whose two touchdowns in the Green Bay game were joined by her defensive plays that included an interception and a fumble recovery.

Now, why should you care about a game that happened over a month ago? Well, if you are intrigued by the Mist’s last win, perhaps you will consider heading to the Showare Center in Kent tonight to watch them take on the Las Vegas Sin. By all accounts, it should be a solid matchup, and with tickets starting at $10 it won’t be a cost prohibitive Friday night activity. Can’t make it to the arena? Don’t worry, just turn to MTV2 for the live broadcast. Either way, the game starts at 7pm.
