Just in time for holidays, Journelle has opened up its fourth specialty store on the Upper East Side, at 1266 Third Avenue at 73rd Street. CEO Claire Chambers says this is the first time the brand has had a corner spot, and she explains to WWD that, “We didn’t want the East 73rd Street side to look like a fishbowl so we displayed light boxes with images.”
The store is finished with Journelle’s “signature” white oak floors that Chambers says are “very warm and light but not too Scandinavian looking,” and bras and other expensive little things are displayed in custom cabinets. The store opened up late last month, and so far some of the big sellers have been Chantelle and Simone Perele T-shirt bras, Jenny Packman lace and silk slips, and “novelty and everyday” underwear from Commando, Eberjey, La Perla, and Hanky Panky. So if you’re curious as to what Upper East Side women are wearing under their clothes, well, now you know.
