Birmingham-based web designer Diamond Studios has a slew of projects rolling out in the next few weeks, including apps for MTV’s lingerie football league and NAPA auto centers.

Diamond Studios CEO Joe Miele said his company, which got its start in 1982, has been making the transition from producing commercials and web designs to mobile app development during the last five years.

“We look to push the envelope for one client as a way to attract other clients, and then offer the same innovation and development for them,” Miele said.

He said MTV contacted his company about developing an app similar to one for the National Football League, but for its female lingerie Legends Football League.

The LFL features 7-on-7 games of women clad in lingerie and football pads playing the full-contact sport. The league has teams in the U.S., Canada, Australia and Mexico.

Miele said the app will show scores, schedules and real-time, play-by-play stats for LFL games. The app will be available on iOS and Android platforms in 192 countries.

Diamond Studios is also preparing to launch an app for NAPA auto centers that will be used for internal communications for 15,000 NAPA locations, as well as its own app called Flikit that allows users to simultaneously share video streams with selected friends. Those apps will also be available on iOS and Android platforms within a few weeks.

Once these projects are launched, Miele said there are others in the pipeline that will help his company grow. He currently has 12 programmers on board and is expecting to add more in the future.

“There are very few nationwide that can do what we do developing from the front end to the back end on iPhone and Android platforms,” he said. “Obviously our goal is to grow, but the full integration of our products is the endgame.”

Other apps in development include those for Trussville-based Amerex Corporation and national Groupon provider Enjoy the City. You can view a lineup of other apps developed by Diamond Studios here.
