Hint of scandal in retro lingerie

Scandale lingerie and shapewear should cause a bit of a stir when it launches in Brown Thomas today.
The beautiful French retro brand, which is both practical and flattering, and was conceived in the 1930s, now returns with a collection that challenges traditional shapewear and elevates the category to a new level — chic cosmetic lingerie.
The Sirene collection is composed of a bodysuit, dress, balconette bra, smooth back bra, open front cami, mid-waist pants, high-waist pants and a skirt. The collection is designed to allow women to discover their perfect ‘S’ curve silhouette — the ideal shape to define and enhance the bust, waist and hip proportions. And the price point is the best part of this ‘S’-shaped story, ranging from €29.90 to €69.90.
CATWALK EYES
The fascination with eyebrows continues — just check out Chanel’s jewelled eyebrows (right), or Prada’s orange brows, on the catwalk this season. We are also seeing bleached eyebrows and shaved eyebrows, women with pink eyebrows … and the list goes on.
According to Brazilia precision waxing salons (Dublin’s South William Street and Sandyford) each season sees a 20pc increase in women getting their eyebrows done. “However, in spite of catwalk trends, our mainstream customer wants a traditional, groomed shape that flatters and defines their face”, says Brazilia’s Anne Marie Curran. So despite catwalk trends, it’s unlikely that we’ll see jewelled or orange brows on the high street but two trends you might spy are the big bold brow and the classic arc.
LAURENCE LIGHTS UP
Flamboyant is the word most often used to describe interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and it can be applied to his exclusive collection for Littlewoods Ireland. Most of what’s on offer is too masculine for my tastes, but this glamorous chandelier (€144) did catch my eye (www.littlewoodsireland.ie).
