FIFTY Shades of Grey is set to be one of the film sensations of 2015.
And women in Cheltenham will be able to have an exclusive view of it in the new year and raise money for a local charity to boot.
Leukaemia and cancer support charity Linc are hosting a special screening for women only of the Hollywood version of the massively selling erotic novel by EL James.
And as well as the movie those who buy tickets will be able to see a fashion show of lingerie and sip a cocktail or two.
The exclusive evening at Cineworld in Cheltenham’s Brewery entertainment quarter is the brainchild of fundraising manager Karen Organ.
She said: “It’s going to be a great evening. Fifty Shades of Grey is going to be a really popular film and it’s very much the sort of film a woman would want to see with her girlfriends.
“We’ll have two hundred women here and there’ll be Red Room of Pain cocktails and a very tasteful lingerie show from Anne Summers, and a goody bag. It’ll be a really good evening.”
Karen said that some people had thought choosing the risqué film for the special screening was a bold choice of picture.
She added: “I think it will be a successful choice. We did a very successful screening with Sex and the City a while back and we’ve been looking for something to do another one. I think it’s the perfect choice, women can come along with their friends,. Have a lovely time, have a cocktail or two and have a real laugh with their friends and do some good for a charity as well.”
Fundraiser and spokeswoman for the charity Sally Gillespie said: “We’re expecting tickets to sell pretty quickly. The staff at the cinema here told me they’re already getting people booking tickets for the film when it’s released. And our evening is very good value at £20.”
Jamie Dornan, currently on British TV screens in The Fall will star as billionaire businessman Christian Grey in the movie, which will be released in February.
The special Linc screening will take place at 7pm on Thursday February 19 at Cineworld in Cheltenham.
Tickets which cost £20will be go on sale today (Weds) from Lincfund.org or at the charity’s Christmas Beauty Gala evening at tonight Cavendish House from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets for the eveing are £3 and available from 01242 521300.
