New corncerns over facial recognition technology

Since its’ creation, Facebook has run into more than just a few privay problems. Millions of users have complained, and even taken the company to court for privacy violations.

Now a new concern is plaguing people using the social networking site. Facebook was using some form of facial-recognition technology to help users ‘tag’ photos of friends.

The problem is man people viewed it as a privacy violation, and others were just bothered by the reported flawed technology.

“Tag Suggestions” technology is designed to speed up the process of labelling friends in photos. Now new concerns about how the world’s largest social network handles privacy.

The technology scans newly uploaded photos, compares faces in those snapshots with previous pictures, then tries to match faces and suggest name tags.

The difficulty is that users must go in and disable the service if they do not want to show up as “Suggested Tags” in their friends’ photos.
