A new report suggests that users are not particularly satisfied with the leading social networking website Facebook, although it continues to maintain its dominant position in the market.

According to the Independent, the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) E-Business report published in collaboration with ForeSee Results, revealed that Facebook has the lowest satisfaction rating by users in the United States amongst the major web services analysed in its category.

For the report, the organisations categorised 16 websites into sectors such as search engines, social media websites, news websites and portals. Facebook, Google, CNN, You Tube and Wikipedia were among those evaluated. MySpace has been dropped from the index since the platform did not provide an adequate sample size of users for reliable analysis.

Although coming bottom within its group, the report did indicate a two-point rise in the customer satisfaction index since last year for Facebook, reaching 66 points in 2011.

“It shows that the social media giant may be moving in the right direction, albeit very slowly. Facebook is clearly king right now, but if anyone can knock it off its throne, it would be Google,” Larry Freed, the chief executive officer of ForeSee Results, commented.

Google, which was analysed under the category of search engine, scored 83 points, which could provide a potential threat to Facebook, if the company manages to carry a similar level of performance over to its new social networking platform, Google+.
