Contrary to what many think, it seems that most women don’t want to receive lingerie this Valentine’s Day, new research suggests.
A “Valentine’s Day Survival Guide” by dating service It’s Just Lunch has revealed that most women would pick flowers, jewellery, chocolate and even a simple card over underwear. Flowers came out top, with 43 percent of women hoping for a bouquet, while 20 percent hanker after jewelry and just 9 percent hold out for lingerie.
Men, however, somewhat predictably listed “sex” as their number one gift, with 50 percent of guys choosing it over a weekend getaway or tickets to an event. Just 22 percent of women chose sex among their top three gift choices.
Although nearly one-third of both men and women surveyed said they feel “indifferent” about Valentine’s Day, only 17 percent of men and 6 percent of women said they wanted “nothing” for the event. However, 59 percent of men and 49 percent of women said they don’t expect a gift if they’ve been dating less than a month.
The survey was carried out by It’s Just Lunch, with over 1100 singletons. The service operates worldwide from New York to Los Angeles and from Singapore to Ireland.
