Women with big breasts will know finding a bra with cups larger than your head, straps wide enough to warrant a ‘beep’ if you reverse, and 10 reinforced hooks at the back isn’t easy – and it’s near impossible to find a sexy one.

But Curvy Kate, which designs and sells underwear for women with DD-HH-size breasts, has launched its first boudoir lingerie range.

The Scantilly collection comes complete with supportive but sexy bras, peekaboo knickers, basques and suspender belts in black, red, pink and racy leopard print.

Women with larger breasts often struggle to find sexy lingerie in their size, so Curvy Kate aimed to fill this ‘huge gap’ in the market

‘It is our first ever really sexy range’, said Chantelle Crab, PR and marketing executive for Curvy Kate.

‘We saw a huge gap in the market for boudoir lingerie for the fuller bust as many brands either stop at a DD, or if they do produce larger sizes it doesn’t support or fit like a real bra should.’

Indeed it does appear that there is a higher demand for larger cup sizes, as Britain’s average bra size has reportedly risen from a 36C to a more voluptuous 36DD, according to The Great British Bra Survey, which polled 2,000 women aged between 16 and 75 last month.

And Curvy Kate’s head of sales said the brand has seen evidence to reflect this.

Bras start from £38, knickers from £18, and suspender belts from £25

There is a higher demand for plus-size bras as Britain’s average size has reportedly risen from a 36C to a more voluptuous 36DD

‘Sales over the last few years show the demand for fuller cup sizes have increased, with 66 per cent of Curvy Kate sales now above an F cup,’ said Rachel Jenkins.

According to a survey of 1,000 British women conducted by Curvy Kate more than half said their body confidence in the bedroom could be jeopardised if their lingerie didn’t fit properly or squeezed their skin in the wrong places.

And 80 per cent of women agreed that there wasn’t enough choice of sexy/boudoir lingerie for the D-plus market.

Curvy Kate’s aim is to make sure that all curvy women feel confident, sexy and supported

‘Unfortunately, it appears that the lingerie business still has some way to go to make women with larger breasts feel sexy and confident,’ said Hannah Isichei, brand manager of Scantilly by Curvy Kate.

‘It’s because of this that Scantilly has been created; a fearless, sophisticated and uncensored lingerie brand for plus bust sizes.

‘Our aim is to make sure that all curvy women feel confident, sexy and supported.

‘We want women to look in the mirror and embrace their bodies, exactly the way they are.

The launch of the range has been marketed with a sexy campaign video, showing a voluptuous redhead trying on sexy underwear gifted from a secret admirer for every day of the week.

‘Women are more aware of their power in the bedroom and more willing to express themselves and their desires than ever before,’ said Hannah.

‘With these subjects previously considered off-limits, 2015 has seen our sexuality becoming part of our everyday lives.

‘The British ‘stiff upper lip’ has almost completely vanished helped somewhat by the media’s ongoing fascination with Mr Grey and their appetite for all things erotica.

‘We are becoming more open about who we are and sexual confidence has followed this body-loving trend, with women looking to wear clothing and lingerie that they love, regardless of shape, size, height or weight.’

Bras start at £38; the rest of the range will be available in November.
