Ciara – she of 1,2 Step singing fame – has landed herself a hot new fashion gig as the face of Roberto Cavalli’s Autumn Winter 2015 campaign. The shoot is the first taster of Cavalli under the reign of new creative director Peter Dundas, and from where we’re sitting it looks like he’s off to a very good start.

Ciara succeeds fellow RB superstars Nicki Minaj and Rita Ora as a Cavalli front woman. And if Nicki’s SS15 campaign was all about her famous butt, then it’s fair to say Ciara’s is an ode to her incredible Rapunzel-esque locks. Just look at that hair!

Ciara for Roberto Cavalli

The rather surreal shoot – which is the handiwork of fashion photographer Francesco Carrozzini – sees Ciara model Autumn Winter’s 70s trend in slinky wide-leg jumpsuits, pussybow blouses and fringed floor-length gowns while sitting in a room filled with sand dunes. Well, why not?

Of the brand’s choice of campaign star, a press release explains: “The star of the evocative Roberto Cavalli Fall/Winter 2015-16 advertising campaign is Ciara, the American hip hop artist, who embodies beauty with a hint of wildness.” While Ciara said of joining the brand’s roster: “I am so honoured to be the face of the current campaign for Roberto Cavalli. I grew up truly admiring the beautiful collections and dreaming of wearing them.

“I had a marvellous night dancing with Mr Cavalli last fall in Dubai, and now my dream of being in one of their campaigns has come true. I am excited that also now my friend Peter Dundas will be at the creative helm and I look forward to his creations.”
