Gorgeous Me: If you wear it, then it’s worth it

If you can realistically wear it, it's worth the money.
If you can realistically wear it, it’s worth the money.

How many times have you had to justify a purchase – either before or after? I do it all the time, I guess it’s a result of my upbringing. Sometimes an item of clothing, a pair of shoes or an accessory can appear exorbitant and completely over the top – you simply can’t justify it.

But if the item you’re buying is quality and will last a long time, and can be worn with lots of different outfits then you’ll get loads of mileage out of it. What if it works out at $1, 50c or 20c a wear – does that seem like a good investment to you? It does to me.

And that’s the way I look at things. Of course you’re never going to be able to work out the exact cost per wear in advance, but you can have a guess and enjoy the satisfaction that each time you wear it the cost keeps coming down.

There a few things you should consider when buying an item of clothing that you want to get a lot of wear out of:

QUALITY

The quality of the fabric will strongly determine the longevity of wear.

STYLE

Is it something that is trendy right now, but that you might cringe at in a few years time? Try and buy timeless pieces in classic cuts that won’t go out of fashion. And you can always update the look by adding in-fashion pieces.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Ideally, you’ll get more use out of something that you don’t have to dry clean after every wear.

Clothes that can be machine-washed are ideal, as well as those that don’t need an iron after every wear. As a tip, you can place delicate, hand wash only items in a lingerie bag and use the delicate wash cycle.

OCCASION

When and where can you realistically wear it?

Versatility is key! Items that can be dressed up OR down are winners here. It also makes the transition from day to night extremely easy if you have an after work function.

When we were doing research, we asked people how long on average they kept their clothes. It stunned us that most women were uncomfortable answering this question, too embarrassed to admit that they kept their clothes for years.

Well, hello! As long as you still wear these clothes, we think you’ve done a brilliant job choosing items that have stood the test of time. That’s what we call smart investment shopping. What would the cost per wear be on these items we wonder?

Iggy Azalea admits she had a secret boob job

If you thought Iggy Azalea had been looking a bit curvier recently, then you’d be right, as the Aussie rapper has admitted that she had a secret breast enlargement four months ago. Earlier this year the 24-year-old was forced to deny rumours that she’d gone under the knife for a butt enhancement. But that seems completely out of the question now that she’s shown no problem confessing to a boob job.

The curvaceous star made the revelation to Vogue, while discussing her enviable figure and shopping habits. Speaking about her famous booty she explained, “It’s about proportion. I have to have everything tailored because I have such a small waist. I’m a 2 or a 0 on the top, and a 6 on the bottom.” Now though, shopping is no longer such an issue, as she revealed her decision to get surgery was based on her frustration in choosing stage outfits.

Asked, “What would you change about your body?” she nonchalantly replied, “I did change something: Four months ago, I got bigger boobs! I’d thought about it my entire life.” The decision, she said, was made after years of having to sew padding into her stage costumes and her frustration at wearing underwired lingerie.

She admitted she had planned on keeping the surgery a secret, as she didn’t want her young female fans to develop any insecurities about their own bodies. “But then,” she explained, “I decided I wasn’t into secret-keeping.”

The Fancy hitmaker knows all about having your body confidence shredded, as she revealed that modeling agencies tore her apart for her physique. When she first arrived in the US the 5ft 10 star was advised to take up modeling, “but once they measured my body, they didn’t like me anymore,” she admitted. Iggy was told to lose weight and get a nose job if she wanted to kickstart her career, but luckily she managed to make it in the world of music instead. “I was looking in the mirror a little differently,” she said.

Despite being confident and happy with her frame, the star was forced to quit Twitter and Instagram this year after vile trolls were relentless in mocking her bikini body. She tweeted at the time, “Just got back from a great vacation, came online and saw apparently it’s shocking and unheard of to be a woman and have cellulite. Lol.”

“I feel the hatred and pettiness i see online at all times is at making me become an angry person and I cannot be that,” she continued. “To become nasty because of the way I feel iam treated would be a disservice to my fans and I promise i will try to keep smiling… But I also want to let my fans know iam taking some time away from social media. I need to be happy and it is too negative and draining (sic).”
