Mr. Pompeo called the conflict “important,” but he added, “So, precisely how to rank it among all the various challenges, I’ll defer on that. I know that it is an incredible priority for the United States to provide whatever assistance we can to allow the two parties to come to a resolution to this incredibly longstanding and important conflict.”
Mr. Pompeo’s principal message at every stop on the trip has been that Iran, which supports President Bashar al-Assad of Syria and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, is involved in “malign activities” in the region.
During his confirmation hearings, Mr. Pompeo said that he wanted to preserve the Iranian nuclear accord, which was signed in 2015 and restricts Tehran’s ability to engage in the activities necessary to make nuclear weapons.

VALDOSTA, Ga. —
A doctor in Georgia has been accused of threatening to slit the throats of her employees and patients, damaging a wall with a reflex hammer and throwing water on employees.
Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk told news outlets that Dr. Marian Antoinette Patterson was charged with three counts of terroristic threats and one count of false imprisonment. He said she has been released from jail on bond after turning herself in Thursday.
A license suspension order from the Georgia Composite Medical Board said the family doctor in Valdosta yelled at employees in her office and repeatedly threatened them on Feb. 21. The order said Patterson appeared to be “under the influence” at the practice on several occasions.
The board suspended Patterson’s license on March 5.
It is unclear if Patterson has a lawyer.
