Give like Santa with these tips

Selecting just the right gift for anyone is simplest when you know either nothing about the recipient — or almost everything about them.

In the first instance, such as a gift exchange at the office, whatever you give will be appreciated for the thought, even if it is something that does not work for the person who receives it.

When you know nothing about the woman getting your gift, a tastefully selected one will never offend her. Here are some guidelines:

- Opt for a gift with a universal fit. Accessories and stylish fashion toys such as one-size-fits-all vest or sweater or big tee will work for most women.

- Items with a seasonal flavour will bring a smile to most faces regardless of whether they reflect an individual’s personal style. Give something in green or Santa red for Christmas or cobalt blue for Hanukkah. A seasonal motif accessory such as a scarf, a pendant, easy fit bracelet or pin will make most people happy.

- When choosing colour, select items in soft white, friendly red or cobalt blue. These generally suit most people. Basic black is often a safe bet.

- Avoid items in bold patterns; solids are a safer choice.

- Jewelry items in mixed-metal combos are stylish and eliminate the debate of whether gold or silver looks better on a person.

- A gift that is artfully and beautifully made, such as a diaphanous shawl with sequins and beads, will be festive, aesthetically pleasing and can serve as a table runner if your recipient opts not to wear it.

- Avoid gifts that might offend someone’s sensibilities such as anything with fur trim.

- Never give a personal gift to a stranger — no lingerie, no underwear!

When buying a gift for someone you know, make sure you find something that perfectly suits her. Here are some guidelines:

SIZE: In ladies’ wear, size is just a number. To ensure a proper fit, have the measurements of the bust, waist and hips of your recipient with you when you shop. Alternatively, bring along an item that fits.

COLOUR: If you don’t know already, find out what colours your recipient prefers.

ESSENTIALS: Educate yourself about your recipient’s needs. The more you know, the narrower the parameters for your gift hunt. For example, an allergy to a specific fabric eliminates all those items.

PASSIONS: Learn as much as you can about your recipient’s passions. You won’t go wrong with a scarf or tee or any item with their preferred motif.

PERSONAL STYLE: Select based on their personal style, not yours.

LIFESTYLE: When your friend has a special interest that requires appropriate apparel, anything that works for her activity will be used and appreciated. For example, golf shirts for a golfer or long silk underwear for a skier.

Jada Michaels Lingerie Makes Splash at American Music Awards

In addition to a beautiful display of her latest lingerie collection, Jada Michaels attracted celebrities with a fun, spin-wheel game, filled with sexy questions to help break the ice.

“My slogan was ‘If you spin my wheel, you can have my panties,’” she said. “My collection is all about being sexy and having fun.”

Many male celebrities said they were going to give the panties to their girlfriends or dates. Other women celebrities confided in Jada Michaels and asked her for fashion tips and how they can be sexy for their boyfriends.

“Many celebrities loved my Beautiful Curves Collection for plus-sized women,” she said. “We all agreed that every woman is sexy. I’ve created a fashion line where every woman can come and find the perfect something from sizes small through plus sizes.”

Celebrities also gossiped with Jada Michaels.

“They all said the sexiest song of all time was ‘Let’s Get It On,’ by Marvin Gaye,” she said.

She also met agents who gave her their cards and asked if she wanted their celebrity clients to model her clothes and her plus-sized fashions. A TV talk show producer also asked for her information to appear on a reality show.
