A memo must have gone out to celebrities this week stating that wearing black and white would land you on best-dressed lists the world over. The stars hit red carpets in minimalist looks that had us ready to toss our brightly-colored clothes. Some of our favorite celebrities went even more simple in covered-up black dresses: Both Kim and Khloé Kardashian stepped out in long-sleeved dark frocks (we know, it’s shocking).

New York City hosted the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this week and welcomed the VS Angels to town. The models stunned on the catwalk in lingerie and then hit the city looking just as gorgeous fully-clothed.

Check out our picks for the week’s best-dressed celebrities, and keep clicking to see previous weeks’ contenders. Also, don’t forget to head over to our roundup of the week’s worst-dressed here.

Fed up with today’s female pop stars dressing like ‘sex objects’, Seventies glam rocker, Suzi Quatro, wants to have a word with Lady Gaga about her image. Join the queue…

The name Suzi Quatro might not ring many bells with her modern day musical counterparts, but the Seventies glam rocker has plenty to say about them in her new book.

In an extract from her autobiography ‘Unzipped’ published in the
Daily Mail
, Quatro, now 62 and on tour in Europe, says today’s female pop stars dress like ‘sex objects’ and their music videos are like soft porn’.

“It’s not that the women in today’s pop and rock world are being treated like sex objects; it’s that they are choosing to do it to themselves, which is strange to me.”

Anyone of a ‘certain age’ will remember mullet-haired Suzi in her skintight leather jumpsuits as a major sex symbol of her day. But Quatro maintains that hers was a more demure and less blatantly sexualised appeal.

Suzi Quatro and her band in 1973. PHOTO: REX

“I may have been sexy, but I was covered up total. There was something left to the imagination… I refused to wear makeup on TV, I wanted my music to be heard.”

“I haven’t talked to any young artists for a long time. But if we did sit down I’d definitely tell them my viewpoint.

“If it was Lady Gaga, I’d say, ‘You’re obviously very talented and you’ve obviously got the goods… what the hell are you doing with your image? How can anyone take you serious?’”

Fair point, Suzi, but for us it’s more an issue with meat-based lingerie than lingerie per se.

READ: Lara Stone: Lady Gaga is not sexy at all

Anyway, sexy is as sexy does: Rihanna would look hot in a paper bag, while – although undoubtedly a fashion ‘maverick’ – all the ripped fishnets and bra-tops in Soho won’t make Lady Gaga a ‘sex symbol’.

And if anyone should understand that, it’s the woman who became a sex symbol
despite
the deadly man-repelling triumvirate of leather jumpsuits, mullet hair and no make-up.
