Choosing a face to grace the cover of a magazine is no easy affair. Each magazine usually competes with several others to grab the reader’s attention and hence a great front page photo can make or break the issue. Bollywood stars are no strangers to magazine covers and while some have appeared on the front only once or twice, there are some that have been a recurring feature through the year. We went through issues of GQ, Vogue, L,Officiel, Elle, Hello, Grazia, Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia, Verve, Cosmopolitan and Hi Blitz since the beginning of 2014. Here’s a few of the toppers with the most front page appearances.
9 Covers
Kangana Ranaut: Kangana is the queen of the pack bagging an impressive nine magazine covers. The actress who had a successful innings at the box office with the release of her film Queen towards the beginning of the year seemed to be an apt choice not just for her star prowess but also her sartorial sense. She revealed her sensual side in the GQ May issue with a lingerie shoot while the October issue that named her Woman of the Year had her channelling a rockstar look in a Julien Macdonald sheer bodysuit. Kangs also rocked a Burberry suit for a workwear issue for Grazia, proving that she’s a versatile model choice.
7 Covers
Alia Bhatt: The newbie is definitely no novice when it comes to posing and preening on the front page of magazines. Alia has graced the covers seven times which is no surprise considering she’s had three back to back hits this year. The young fashionista also launched her own line of clothing for women, in association with an online fashion portal further cementing her as one to watch out for. While Alia showed her desi side by flaunting a pearl and diamond maang tikka in the August issue of Verve, she showed her girly side in a cute Hemant Nandita crop top and Shivan and Narresh skirt for Cosmopolitan.
6 covers
Shraddha Kapoor: Shraddha who usually plays it safe when it comes to her dressing, has experimented with different avatars for her mag covers. The April cover of Vogue had Shraddha sporting a bikini top and a Gucci kaftan teamed with a bold neckpiece against a desert backdrop showing a gypsy side. While her Harper’s Bazaar cover had a bare look with the Ek Villain star wearing a retro printed Valentino ensemble. But perhaps her most sexiest was in a black bodysuit for GQ.
5 covers
Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone: Sonam has always been a darling of magazine covers. The Khoobsurat actress grabbed eyeballs in a Louis Vuitton ensemble for Vogue, while she channelled the 60s style to tee in her cover for Harper’s Bazaar. She was also cover face and guest editor for Cosmo’s 18th anniversary edition. Deepika, however didn’t lag behind. The Finding Fanny star sizzled in a swimwear edition for Vogue and was listed with the super achievers in Hello’s Jan issue.
BATTLE OF THE BOYS
While Bollywood women ruled the front pages, when it came to their male counterparts each of the leading men were only able to bag one cover each. From Shah Rukh to Aamir, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra each had a single mag appearance.

Clothing company HM has plans to open up a store in Missoula’s Southgate Mall.
According to a press release issued this week, HM will open its first Montana location in Missoula.
“The new location at Southgate Mall in Missoula will offer access to its quality clothing for the whole family including collections for ladies, men, young ladies and young men, with separate “store within store” sections for accessories, lingerie, sports apparel, maternity and its plus-size line, HM+” the release says.
There’s no word yet on where the new retailer will be located but it will not replace any current stores.
HM will be 20,000 square feet. That’s a little less than half of a typical anchor store, like Sears or J.C. Penney.
The general manager of Southgate Mall says it will be a great addition.
“We are very excited to have such a great retailer who’s been very successful in introducing themselves to the United States and then choosing Missoula was just fantastic, we’re very excited about it,” said Tim Winger.
HM has about 355 locations across the country.
The store is scheduled to open in fall 2015.
