Their relationship hit a rocky road during the last series of TOWIE, but Ferne McCann and Charlie Sims put on a united front during a double date with Mario Falcone and Shelby Bingham.

The foursome dined at Alec’s restaurant in Brentwood, Essex, and while Ferne and Charlie cosied up, Mario and new flame Shelby looked a little reticent to display their feelings in public.

Fashion designer and hairdresser Ferne, 23, draped herself on 21-year-old Charlie’s arm as things seemed to be back on track on Saturday evening.

The reality star looked stunning in a monochrome two-piece trouser suit and twiddled with her hair flirtatiously as she chatted with Charlie, while he looked attentive in a tight silk black shirt, tight jeans and Dr Martens.

Meanwhile, Mario, who is believed to be dating Shelby despite recently being linked with lingerie model Jasmine Lennard, wore a tight-fitting black and red T-Shirt that showed off his tattoos, and tight jeans.

His date Shelby struck a sophisticated figure in a high-neck black top, pale yellow slacks and pointy black heels.

She giggled as Mario distanced himself from her as they left the restaurant.

The foursome have been making the most of their free time since the eleventh series of the ITV2 show wrapped up two weeks ago.

In the final episode of TOWIE, Ferne suggests all is back on track with Charlie as she arrived at the wrap party alongside her on-off lover.

But whether the pair are back together is a matter for conjecture since both refuse to confirm whether their romance is back on, despite being seen frequently together.

Ferne recently told how she was looking forward to a summer of fun telling The Daily Star: ‘I’m 100 per cent single now and just looking forward to the summer.

‘I have two holidays booked with Sam – one to Vegas and one to Ibiza. I’ll be celebrating my birthday in August in Ibiza.’

But since then the pair have been dropping every hint imaginable that they are back together and on Thursday attended the Amazing Spider-Man 2 premiere together.

The pair have also been in constant Twitter communication and on Monday tweeted the identical photograph of food after going out for lunch.

Charlie told his followers: ‘Had an amazing lunch in La Petite Maison .. Food was beautiful .. Wine was .. And the company was even better.’ He then posted a ‘kissing’ emojicon.

Ferne, meanwhile, shared an emojicon of a boy and girl and wrote: ‘La Petit Maison lunch!’

The pair’s fans were quick to reply. One said: ‘@fernemccann @charlessims_ back together then?’

Another added: ‘OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG you and @charlessims_ are back together…’

On the day of her fashion launch for SS14 on Tuesday, Ferne posted another new snap of herself and Charlie on Instagram and it shows them sat at a train station together.

Alongside it, she said: ‘True #friendship comes when silence between two people becomes comfortable.’

Earlier this month, ex Frank Major hit out at Ferne by claiming she has ‘crazy behavioural patterns’ which resemble a ‘split personality’.

And he claimed she once told him she would never speak to him again if he filmed scenes with some of the show’s female stars.

A spokesperson for Ferne told MailOnline: ‘Ferne and Charlie are just friends and seeing how things go. They don’t want to put any pressure on themselves.’
