Interactive marketing veteran Joe Doran is joining the board of Meteor Solutions, a Seattle-based digital marketing startup.
Doran is a entrepreneur and venture capitalist who is founder and CEO of Tout Inc., a media marketing platform.
Doran is the founder and principal of Whidbey Venture Group, which invests in digital advertising and social media companies, although Doran is not an investor in Meteor. He also was the founding CEO of Media6Degrees Inc., a New York-based social ad targeting firm.
Doran’s background also includes nine years at Microsoft, including five years as general manager of Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions.
“Joe Doran is a pioneer in the emerging social advertising space having been the founding CEO of Media6Degrees, a leader in social targeting,” Ben Straley, CEO of Meteor Solutions, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to welcome Joe to our board of directors.”
Straley co-founded Meteor in 2008. The company’s technology pinpoints and measures exactly who is sharing, viewing, and commenting on clients’ online marketing campaigns and reveals how this information is passed along online from one user to another through social media and other means.
Meteor recently launched “Meteor Advertise” a technology that helps brands deliver relevant display ads to consumers based on their social behavior and sharing patterns.
Meteor’s clients include Microsoft, ATT and CNN.
