Just Plain Creepy: Mother-Daughter Sexy Lingerie Ad

Need a great Christmas card idea this year? How about posing with your mom in some sexy lingerie? No, don’t do that. That’s just disturbing. And yet, a New York based lingerie company, the Lake and Stars, is generating all kinds of buzz over a similar idea with its new ad campaign featuring a mother and her 19-year-old daughter not just wearing some barely-there lacy underwear, but also lying on each other in a sexually provocative way.

Yep, advertising has reached a new low. But while some are calling this the ad that made them “barf”, others say it’s merely art.

The company owner Maayan Zilberman told the Business Insider that the two women are not models but neighbors of his who are “always so loving and tender toward each other.”

That’s what really drives the collection and what drives the photos: these women who are experiencing something that we’re not necessarily experiencing. I wanted to present portraits of them so that people would see the chemistry that they have. I think it’s really rare, you don’t see a lot of that.

Um, yeah, there’s a reason we don’t see a lot of that: It’s demeaning to women and our bodies. And it’s just plain gross.

Zilberman also told the Huffington Post that the goal of the campaign is to “spark discussion about how younger generations of women relate to older generations of women, and vice versa.”

So for our customer, for our viewer to see these photographs, you’re confronted with this feeling of ‘who’s the sexy one?’ Because there’s always someone who’s sexier and there’s always some kind of competition going on; there’s always a tenderness going on; there’s always a tension. We’re opening it up to think about: Is it OK for a mother and daughter to feel tender toward each other? And what happens when they’re in sexy clothing?

We’re all for being proud of your body and even showing it off on occasion.  Likewise, we’re all for having strong family ties where women support one another and encourage a healthy body image. But, let’s be clear: The two do not mix. A mother posing half-naked with her equally half-naked teenage daughter is really crossing the line.

Tell us what you think!

A dancer at an Orlando gentlemen’s club faces charges after she was accused of stealing lingerie for her job with her children in tow, authorities said.

Ashley Fleischmann was arrested on Saturday after she was found with $84.91worth of items, including lingerie-style lace underwear, at a Burlington Coat Factory, the arrest report said. She faces charges including petit theft and child cruelty. She was released on $2,200 bond on Sunday, a jail official said.

According to the report, Fleischmann said “she had planned to make a quick exit from the front of the store with the unpaid items and that she had hoped the presence of her children” would stop her from being arrested.

The two crying children were put into the custody of the Department of Children and Families as no other  legal guardian was found, the report said.

Fleischmann also stated that the items were for her to wear at her job at Crystal Cabaret Gentlemen’s Club, the report said.

The whole event traumatized her children, who struggled to stop crying during the hour-long process, the arrest report said.

Fleischmann told the deputy that she was a transient and couldn’t give a home address, and that she had just gotten the “care and custody of her minor children one week prior and that she couldn’t believe this was happening again,” the report said.

It wasn’t immediately known if she had an attorney.
