After five decades of red lacy lingerie flying off the shelves at Christmas there has been a shift in buying habits with the colour purple reigning at the tills.

High Street giant Debenhams is reporting that sales of purple bras and pants are up 54 per cent as men sway away from the predictable red slinky numbers.

The revelation came as millions of men
braved shopping centres across the country on the last full shopping
weekend before Christmas.

Debenhams reports sales of purple bras and pants are up 54 per cent as men sway away from the predictable red slinky numbers

Yesterday psychologists saiud that they believed the sudden colour shift might be a reflection of rapidly changing economic and social values.

‘After being the automatic No 1 choice for the past five decades, red pants and bras have finally been replaced,’ said Debenhams spokesman Michelle Dowdall.

‘Me are relying on purple underwear to work its magic this year.’

Purple is said to be the colour of choice for people who put security, mediation and a sense of self worth before risk-taking and reckless moves.

‘It is clear that the financial crisis is having a major impact in the bedroom as well as the Euro zone.

‘Reckless red my have been a thrilling experience for many years but those times have been replaced with passionate but purposeful purple.’

Prince Harry Reportedly Back with Lingerie Model

Female fans of Prince Harry are probably disappointed at this latest development. He is reportedly back with lingerie model Florence Brudenell-Bruce.

Known as Flee by her friends, she and the prince enjoyed a brief romance earlier this summer. One of Flee’s friends has revealed that the two have quietly renewed their romance in recent weeks. “I know Flee quite well and from what I’ve heard there’s still something going on. She and Harry have enjoyed a few nights in together with a DVD – stuff we all do,” Spencer Matthews, who stars in UK reality show Made in Chelsea, said to a UK publication. The model recently spoke to high-society magazine Tatler about how she found it difficult to cope with the “full on” attention her relationship with the prince brought her. The full interview can be read in next month’s Tatler issue, for which Flee is the cover model.

Considering the royal family’s love of privacy, Flee better keep her mouth quiet if she wants to keep seeing Prince Harry. Chelsey Davy never spoke publicly about her relationship with the prince during their seven-year on/off romance. As the recent NBC documentary William Kate: Inside the Royal Marriage pointed out, Prince William and Kate Middleton are quick to disown friends who dare leak details to the press.
