Is there anything sexier than the phrase, “Honey, I got it on sale”? Experts say that June is the optimal months for bargain hunters in the market for bare essentials at barely-there prices.
In its monthly guide to the best and worst things to buy, the deal-tracking site dealnews named lingerie as one of the smartest buys in June. (June is also expected to be an excellent month for cheap prices on HDTVs, laptops, and cruises.) Here’s why shoppers can snag inexpensive lingerie right now:
It’s usually this month that Victoria’s Secret unveils its famed Semi-Annual Sale, and last year we saw prices as low as $3 for panties and $12 for bras. Moreover, we saw excellent lingerie deals in June from aerie by American Eagle, Frederick’s of Hollywood, Macy’s, Soma Intimates, and Figleaves.

In fact, Victoria’s Secret has indeed just launched its Semi-Annual Sale, which includes clearance items priced as low as $3.99. Online lingerie specialist Bare Necessities is also in the midst of its Semi-Annual Sale, which offers including 50% off hundreds of bras.
The folks at dealnews, however, note that June isn’t the lone period for lingerie deals. The October-December period last year also saw more than its share of discounts on lingerie. But overall, the consensus seems to be that summer is peak season for lingerie sales. In a QA posted on a Washington Post blog, the founder of TheLingerie Addict website points to July as another top month for lingerie sales, based on fashion industry cycles.

It’s always deal time, meanwhile, at CheapUndies, a Groupon-like site that focuses exclusively on one-day discounts on underwear for men and women alike.

Judge orders Paris Hilton and Italian lingerie manufacturer LeBonitas to …

A federal judge got tough with hotel heiress Paris Hilton on Monday, and she liked it.
“I love this judge. He’s so old,” Hilton, 31, was overheard telling her legal team as she waited to meet with 78-year-old Judge Alvin Hellerstein, who ordered her and Italian lingerie manufacturer LeBonitas to settle their dueling lawsuits.
When she emerged from Hellerstein’s Manhattan chambers, Hilton was chatty and buoyant.
“It’s looking good. I’m happy as of today,” she said, declining to reveal if a settlement was imminent.
Hilton sued LeBonitas more than a year ago for $1.5 million, charging it breached a contract by not promoting a line of undergarments she lent her name to. LeBonitas countersued, blaming the failed dealings on an uncooperative Hilton.
“I have 17 product lines,” Hilton told reporters, as if looking for an excuse.
She said she chose to wear white-framed Chanel sunglasses to court because they “go better with this outfit,” but pointed out her militarylike jacket and purse were from her own Honey Bunch collection.
Hilton arrives at court in Manhattan on Monday for the latest salvo in an ongoing battle with a rival lingerie maker. (John Taggart for New York Daily News)
