Look out, consumers: “Fifty Shades of Grey” will soon become a lifestyle brand.

The erotic, SM novel trilogy by author E.L. James will soon include fragrances, beauty products, bedding, home furnishings, jewelry and adult products, according to a press release.

U.K. agency Caroline Mickler Ltd. announced Wednesday that it will handle all licensing duties for the “Fifty Shades of Grey” brand.

It isn’t new territory — the female fans of the books have already staked their claim on Etsy.

The super-crafting site hosts a number of retailers who sell “50 Shades” fan apparel and accessories, including t-shirts, panties and jewelry.

For $7, you can purchase an SM-inspired leather “flogging” keychain with a tiny mask charm.

Another is selling a silver necklace with a silver mesh tie ($20), an homage to the book’s cover art.

One woman has created her own bottled scent, dubbed “Anastasia Perfume Oil,” named for the lead female character.

“I have taken the lovely sweetness and innocence of pure Vanilla and added just enough of the ‘naughty’ scents to make it truly intoxicating,” the seller writes. “Amber, Musk, Jasmine, Moroccan Rose, Patchouli, Blackberry and a few other secret delights.”

But how to translate the novels’ kinky themes into cosmetics?

Jordan Long, a New York-based makeup artist, foresees some sexy packaging to pique the consumer’s imagination.

She envisions bright red lipsticks with little tassels attached to the ends of the tube, smokey eye palettes and mask-shaped eye shadow cases.

For the packaging, she sees lots of spiky hardware, black leather and chains being involved.

“You can either go nasty with it, like edible lipsticks, or keep it industrial and almost Goth, which I think would be more interesting,” Long said.

In March, Universal Pictures and its Focus Features division acquired rights to produce the movie version of the best-selling books.

Forever Yours Lingerie and LUCY Clothing: A Curvy Conclusion for … – SYS

LANGLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA — (Marketwire) — 06/14/12 — Forever Yours Lingerie and LUCY Clothing wrapped up their model search contest at midnight May 15th with a flurry of 11th hour submissions. Seeking six women to be the new faces of a national advertising campaign this fall, the contest organizers announced the six selected winners this morning – all lower mainland women and all without traditional modeling experience.

“We received over 250 applications from a range of women from Vancouver Island to Hope, BC,” said Forever Yours Lingerie and LUCY Clothing owner, Sonya Perkins. “There were so many great ladies, it was difficult to get the finalists down to 20; we ended up with 23 finalists in total.” With the various fittings and test photo shoots complete, the six winning entrants are now set to get down to business.

Newly awarded winners Sarah Baarda, Yogeeta Lai and Kaleigh McDonald will be modeling on behalf of Forever Yours Lingerie with Chelsey Hibbs, Tiffany McFadyen and Danielle Keil strutting various styles for Perkins’ fashion boutique LUCY Clothing. “It is incredibly humbling to be selected to represent a brand like LUCY Clothing,” remarks contest winner, Tiffany McFadyen. “I’m still in shock; the other finalists are all gorgeous!”

The Forever Yours Lingerie and LUCY Clothing Model Search was born out of a desire to find women who best represent the stores’ customer base. “We were looking for real women who could wear the bras and clothing lines that we sell in each of our locations,” notes Perkins. With a modeling industry that profiles women sized 8 to 12 as ‘plus size’, Perkins was frustrated by the idea of having to fit fashions to models who would most likely never shop at one of her boutiques.

All of the finalists for both the lingerie and clothing lines were fit to fashions that are available in each retail location – none of the pieces were altered. Most refreshingly, the photographs released by Perkins and her team have not been airbrushed. “We know it is common in the industry to alter a model’s photographs, we haven’t done that with any of our finalists’ images,” states Perkins.

Each of the winners will be provided with a $500 wardrobe; a 3-month paid modeling contract with the possibility for renewal and all will become the faces of a national advertising campaign and launch of the online Forever Yours Lingerie and LUCY Clothing boutiques. Don’t be surprised if you see some of the other finalists as part of the fall 2012 launch, Perkins rumored. “We met so many great women that we are considering hiring some additional local ladies to help us with our modeling needs as we move forward.”
