The lingerie giant has built an outstanding reputation for comfortable and
perfectly fitting women’s underwear.
From beautiful sets and stylish separates, to seductive silhouettes and
practical everyday wear, Triumph creates appealing essentials for women
all over the world.
Launched in 1886, the German brand has come a long way, from vintage-inspired corsets to bras
and knickers that celebrate the nipped-in waists and high-waisted
styling of the past.
The new body make-up range is designed to fit like a second skin and comes in a variety of neutral colours
Fast
forward 125 years, and much has changed.
This month, Triumph
International launches a brand new body make-up line.
The capsule collection features a range of nude, cream and violet slips, body dresses, bras and pants and is designed to truly feels like a second skin.
The new collection is a far cry from the vintage-style corsets on a yesteryear

The German brand has come a long way from the nineteenth century and can add celebrities such as Louise Redknapp to it’s models
This Triumph series made
of smooth, cosy and weightless fabrics. Bras feature an innovative
spacer fabric, while the panties use bonded technology for a seamless
finish to ensure optimal wearing comfort.
The brand’s latest collection is a far cry from the 1886 effort – a rigid wire cage that held the breasts in
place, prosaically named the Bust Improver. The only concession to
vanity was the addition of two bows tied onto each cup.
This 1980 style is much more demure than today’s barely-there underwear
A history of the family-run business
More than century ago in 1886,
merchant Michael Braun and corset-maker Johann Gottfried Spiesshofer
went down in history after becoming the first firm in the world to make a
bra commercially available to women.
Never
could they have known back then that the tiny corset factory they had
set up in southern Germany would one day become the world’s leading
lingerie firm.
125 years
on, the business that started out with just six sewing machines and six
employees has gone global, with 37,500 employees working in over 120
countries – and it is still in the hands of the families of its
founders.
The first foreign subsidiary was established in Zurzach, Switzerland
which has become the company’s headquarters. The multinational
manufacturing and marketing organisation is one of the leading underwear producers in the
world and in 2010 had an annual turnover of 2.2 billion Swiss francs.

Ladies, Where’s the Lingerie Love? Honestly, I’ve Lost Mine.

Yes, I feel a little lazy admitting this to you fab Smitten readers but it’s true, I’ve lost all motivation to slip into my sexy lingerie. I’ve had this one sheer number shoved in my “sexy bin” for at least four months now (tags still on) and there are no signs of it making an appearance soon (sorry, J). During our honeymoon phase, J was getting action all the time and I usually had on some sort of skimpy/sexy/cute lingerie. Now that we’re living together it just seems like So. Much. Work. I had to ask some of my besties to make sure I wasn’t a horrible girlfriend see how often they really wore lingerie (and, yes, how I stacked up). The results made me feel much better:
“When we first starting dating I always bought lingerie but every time I wore it I felt a little silly. I just do not embrace sexy in any way. [Ed note: She so does!] I always thought to myself, ‘OK let me gather up this little number and carry it in a ball to the bathroom without him noticing (if we were on vacation) and I’ll come out wearing it.’ But then I would put it on in the bathroom and be like now what? Do I just walk out there and act like everything is normal? How awkward! Am I supposed to stick my leg out behind the wall? However the romance was new and I knew he’d love it regardless of how silly I felt. Now we’ve been dating for 4 years and I’d rather buy myself a new pair of shoes than spend $80 on something that is only staying on for 3.2 minutes and I feel silly in. Let alone if I’m not in shape. I am rarely up for making a huge production out of it unless its a special occasion. Wow aren’t I a real catch?”—N, 24
“My go-to combo is a pink and black lace bra with black panties. Unfortunately, I don’t wear lingerie as much as I would like. I always get caught in my nude granny bra (because it goes with all of my clothes and is the best ever!) and a pair of flowered boyshorts! So embarrassing! Although, if a man wants to wear something equivalent to a woman in lingerie, they should buy or borrow a fireman’s uniform or marines uniform. Who doesn’t love a man in uniform! Haha”—M, 23
“Are you NUTS?! Lingerie—HA—girl, he’s lucky if my bra matches my underwear. Granted, they’re always cute, but whoa… lingerie. Umm, I’m either clothed around my guy or just naked, there is no in between. Soooo… my sexy lingerie is the goods that God gave me. NAKED!”—A, 31
As for me? I am usually in cheekies or a thong (depending on my outfit) and a black or nude version of the exact same Victoria’s Secret bra. When I want to amp it up for J, I throw in a little lace. I have some outfits and thigh highs (his fave) at home but I am not sticking my sweaty self into those when it’s 100 degrees outside! Maybe in the fall… maybe not. It’s not that I don’t want to do something special for my man, it just feels like this huge extra effort. I want to have sex. With him. Isn’t that enough?
What about you guys? How often do you wear lingerie? Are you single and hooking up or coupled up? Why does lingerie feel like an “easier said than done” type of thing? Should us girls unite and either A) start a no-lingerie liberation or B) start making the guys in our lives buy the stuff so we can save some dough (it gets pricey!)? I always say if J picked it out and bought it for me I’d be more up for getting down. Tell me everything! And, at the very least if you’re a lacy lovah, please tell me that you sometimes overeat and feel too mushy to put on anything sexy!
