LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A lingerie modeling business is now shut down after allegedly selling a bit more than legal adult entertainment.
After receiving complaints in September about the so-called “lingerie modeling” business, “Temptations” on Earl Avenue in Lafayette, police as well as the owner of the building decided to investigate.
The owner of the strip mall, Shane Mundell, didn’t want to appear on camera.
But he said he has already asked the store’s owner to leave the space because he felt their business was a front for something more than just lingerie modeling.
Lafayette Police Lieutenant Tom Davidson said according to complaints filed with the police department that may not be too far off track.
“Inappropriate sexual contacts, and things of that nature. I wouldn’t say prostitution, but just short of,” said Davidson.
The business was also facing zoning violations for running an adult entertainment business within 500 feet of a residential zone.
Calls to the owners of the “Temptations” lingerie store were not returned.
An employee of a nearby business said “Temptations” seemed to always be a pretty busy operation.
He said several cars could often be seen parked around the back of the strip mall.
Coming up tonight on NewsChannel 18 at six, we ask the question just how often do these illicit operations pop up, and how does it reflect on the legal adult businesses in town.
