VietJet Air criticised for lingerie model photo shoot

The dance was organised by the airline to celebrate its maiden flight between
Ho Chi Minh City and the beach town of Nha Trang.
Nguyen Trong Thang, chief inspector of the country’s civil aviation body, was
reported at the time as saying the airline had “violated the local aviation
regulations by organising an unapproved show on a plane”.
The latest set of images were posted by a Ngoc Trinh, a lingerie model
well-known in Vietnam, on her Facebook page on Thursday.
The photos are reminiscent of those published
every year in the UK for the Ryanair calendar. One of the cabin crew
pictured for the Irish airline for 2014 was topless while others posed in
the sea. The calendar raised funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Heather Poole, a former flight attendant in the US, and the author of the book
Cruising Attitude: Tales of Crashpads, Crew Drama and Crazy Passengers at
35,000 Feet, was one of those to criticise the images on Twitter. She wrote
a blog post about sexual
harassment experienced by cabin crew for Mashable.
“Marketing the attractiveness of the flight crew is not in airlines’ past,
it’s in its present,” she said. “I think that gives some passengers the idea
that just because they bought a ticket they can do whatever they want.”
