An Aurora man was arrested for allegedly making illicit gestures at women in the lingerie section of a southwest suburban Walmart Saturday, police said.
Plainfield police Sgt. Mike Fisher said Damien Dickens, 34, “made several women uncomfortable with his actions” in the store on Route 59 in Plainfield.
“As female patrons would approach, he picked up women’s underwear from the shelves and made a show of sniffing and smelling [the panties] in front of them,” Fisher said.
Customers complained and police arrived at 5:26 p.m. to arrest Dickens on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Fisher said police had previous contact with Dickens because of similar conduct at the Target — also on Route 59 in Plainfield.
Dickens has been informed he will be arrested for trespassing if he returns to either store. Dickens, of Aurora, was released on his own recognizance.
Dickens has previously been convicted of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report.
In April 2005, Dickens used a cell phone to make at least 19 prank calls to 11 law enforcement agencies in DuPage, Kendall and Will counties, authorities said.
Dickens pleaded guilty in March 2006 in exchange for having two other disorderly conduct counts dismissed.
