ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – The Lingerie Football League kicks off in Canada this weekend, with Abbotsford playing host to the first game.
The BC Angels will welcome the Regina Rampage on Saturday.
Stephanie Manou will be playing and has a long history with contact sports, having played rugby at the varsity and provincial level.
“With rugby, it’s a continuous play so if you make a mistake, it’s no big deal. With football, if you don’t make a catch or you don’t do the play that you were supposed to do, it has catastrophic results,” she explains.
Manou says she enjoys both the sport itself and the performing side, adding it demonstrates athletic, healthy women.
“As soon as you meet us and get to know us as people as well as players, all the lingerie goes out the window. That’s not who we are. Come to a game [and see].”
The game starts at 8 p.m. at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre, with a tailgate party starting at 5 p.m.
