Google Plus Growing Based On Real Identity

Google Plus recently required that user profiles be based on real names, which frustrated some online marketers. Though the new social media platform has only been open to field testing for a month, it has shown that it can generate healthy traffic to business websites. The new social media platform has over 20 million users, many of them entrepreneurs. Twitter and Facebook both took more than three years to hit the same number of users. Google Plus is starting to be a significant source of referral traffic to marketing user websites, and at the core of Google Plus’s mission is Google’s desire to connect real identity to real people – and their businesses, if they choose to bring them onboard to the new social media player.

All Google Plus Profiles Required To Be Public

In terms of using Google Plus as a marketer or business owner, there is new information that entrepreneurs should heed. According to Theregister.co.uk, Google Plus users who do not have public profiles by July 31st, 2011 will find their profiles deleted. They can choose to delete the profiles themselves. Additionally, all public profiles are required to be associated with a real name. For businesses, Google Plus is releasing its business offering before the end of 2011. A spokesperson who works for Google told Venturebeat.com that the business product is one in which, “…You can expect to see a level of analytics and measurement that you’d typically find in Google products as well as a nuanced approach to how things are shared. It encourages and enhances conversation, it doesn’t just put things in the stream.” To its credit, Google admitted it was “probably a mistake” to move quickly to allow brands to have a social media presence. If business owners and online marketers can wait a few more months for the unveiling of the Google Plus business offering, they may find the kind of tools they could not find on Facebook.

Google Plus A Significant referer Of Online Traffic

Online marketers and business owners are finding that Google Plus can be a significant referer of online traffic. A recent case study showed that more than 15% referrals to Wordstream – an online marketing blog – came from Google Plus. This percentage was just below Twitter, and it beat LinkedIn’s referral percentage of 9.8 percent. An even more remarkable case study is found with Ventureweb.com, which noted that 67 percent of its online referrals came via Google Plus in one day. The Google Plus business profile will allow online marketers sharing options that are not available in a personal account, analytics, and other tools that help entrepreneurs market more efficiently. Users who do not wait will not be able to migrate their accounts manually or with ease.

Google Plus Business Profiles Coming Soon

In today’s article, you learned that Google Plus is taking the same approach with online marketers that it is with personal users. All Google profiles are required to be public so that the new social media platform can truly be social. Readers also learned that if the profiles are not made public, they will be delete by the end of July, 2011. Finally, readers learned that Google Plus is releasing a business side of the platform by the end of 2011. Google admits to having moved to quickly allowing anyone to create a profile and encourages new business owners and established brands to wait, intimating that the wait will be worth it.
