(CBS/AP) – Here’s a clue to some people who live on the wrong side of the law: one of the reasons it’s called FACEbook – is that people can see your faces.

It’s a lesson being learned the hard way by some people who are on probation.

Law enforcement officials say offenders are ending up back behind bars or under some other sanctions because of stuff they post online. Some who aren’t supposed to be drinking have had photos of themselves with alcohol.

Same with those not allowed to carry firearms. And some people who are supposed to stay in a certain area have boasted about out-of-town trips, made without permission of their probation officers.

In Kentucky, one man had his probation revoked for breaking rules that required him to stay alcohol free. A prosecutor tells the Courier-Journal newspaper the man posted pictures of himself drinking – and this, after inviting his probation officer to be his friend on Facebook.
