President Trump on Wednesday congratulated the two GOP candidates who will advance to the Senate primary runoff in Alabama.

Trump pointed to Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.) and former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, who will advance to the primary runoff to fill the seat left open by Attorney General Jeff SessionsJefferson (Jeff) SessionsPelosi renews call for Trump to fire Bannon Lawmakers press DOJ to help victims of Ponzi scheme Trump records robocall for Luther Strange MORE.

“Congratulation to Roy Moore and Luther Strange for being the final two and heading into a September runoff in Alabama,” Trump tweeted. “Exciting race!”

Trump earlier this month endorsed Strange in the race but made no mention of that in his Wednesday morning tweet.

He praised Strange earlier this week, saying the Alabama senator is strong on immigration, the military, tax cuts and law enforcement.

Trump also recorded a robocall for Strange, where he urged those in the state to get out and vote for Strange in the primary.

In the results of the primary, Moore led Strange, 41 to 32 percent, late Tuesday night.

Since no candidate is projected to hit more than 50 percent, Moore and Strange will move onto a Sept. 26 runoff before the December general election.

The winner of the runoff will face Democrat Doug Jones, a former U.S. attorney, in the December general election.
