NHS cyber attack hero faces jail after allegedly inventing software to hack bank accounts

Prosecutors claim Marcus Hutchins, 23, confessed he was the mastermind behind code that can harvest account details and “hinted” he sold it to an unnamed co-defendant, still atlarge.

The researcher of Ilfracombe, Devon, was hailed a hero in May for creating a “kill-switch” to shut-down ransomware virus that hit the NHS and infected more than 300,000 computers in 150 countries. 

But he was ashen-faced, when he appeared in a Las Vegas court on Friday wearing a prison-issue jumpsuit.
