An underwear designer has launched a new set of lingerie in honour of Amal Clooney.

Alice Holloway, who runs the Little Black Pants Club, has released a black bra and knicker set called ‘Alamuddin’, the maiden name of the human rights lawyer before she married George Clooney.

The lacy set, made from organic cotton and bamboo, is the latest in a line of lingerie which Ms Holloway has named after famous women.

The 30-year-old, a graduate from Central Saint Martins, has already released lingerie called Obama, Minogue and Merkel.

She has also created items which give a nod to Jessica Ennis, DJ Lauren Laverne and actress Tilda Swinton.

Speaking to MailOnline, Ms Holloway, from Oval, south London, said Ms Clooney did not have any association with the lingerie set.

But she said that, when she was naming her creations, she took inspiration from real-life, powerful, role models.

The mother-of-one, who launched the start-up last year, said: ‘She has no association with the product. But, when I was choosing names, I was looking for words that evoke powerful, strong emotions and I took some inspiration for that from real life.

‘I think there is something about underwear that can give you a secret boost. If you are having a bad day and are crying in the toilet over something, you can remember that you are wearing a certain set of underwear that no-one knows about – and if it connects to a role-model who is strong and powerful, it can give you a real boost.’

Lebanese-born Clooney, who was educated at Oxford, qualified in New York 14 years ago.

She spent time working in the US before spending time at the UN and International Court of Justice in The Hague.

The 38-year-old now works in the UK for Doughty Street Chambers. Her clients include Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, in his fight against extradition. She has also represented the former prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko.
