Victoria’s Secret Angels Elsa Hosk and Jasmine Tookes on Sexy Lingerie Vs. Sweatpants

Remember that scene in Girls when Hannah Hovarth is trying to spice up her sex life with boyfriend Adam? After a heavy night of drinking it’s revealed that she’s been wearing an elaborate lingerie contraption that must have been hard to get on and evidently even harder to get off…Well, Victoria’s Secret Angels Elsa Hosk and Jasmine Tookes are also into that stuff.

You have to look at it like a couture piece,” Hosk told me at the brand’s pre Valentine’s Day celebration at the flagship store in New York City. “Like, would you do it for a dress? Yes. You should do it for lingerie. Because lingerie’s such a big part of your outfit. When I wear a good piece of lingerie, even though nobody sees it, I still feel it.  Like, if I have good lingerie on—you know that feeling? If I put on a new bra and it’s gorgeous, and nobody sees it, but I still know it’s there. Or, the other way, you have some nude boring thing on, and it doesn’t feel as good. So I really think of it as couture. And also like, the more you wear the good stuff, the complicated ones, you realize that it really pays off.” It’s a sentiment fellow Angel, Jasmine Tookes agrees with. “I think it’s worth it to wear the more complicated lingerie,” she says. ”It looks better, it’s way sexier, and I promise your boy will be happy.“

But how about when they’re just chilling around the house? “I’m so much about comfort too,” said Hosk. “There’s the Body by Victoria Collection that’s all super soft cotton, really beautiful and comfortable. Personally, I’m not into the boyshort look. I like the sort of ’80s [look], when it’s a little higher. I think that’s really sexy.” Tookes too is all about comfort when it comes to lounging: ”Just some little booty shorts and a tank top. Keep it simple. Or I’ll just throw on some sweatpants. My boyfriend hates that. I don’t really care though. Dress for myself.”

So in case you’re wondering what to wear this Valentine’s Day, take some advice from these Angels. Go for the tricky, struggle-mode stuff because it will be worth it―but once you’ve managed to get yourself out of your sexy contraption, sweatpants all the way. A win-win for all parties involved.
