As October was Breast Cancer Awareness month Emma J Steven and her team went all out supporting the cause by decorating their salon and wearing pink throughout the month.

Emma commented:

“It’s a charity close to my heart so I wanted to help as much as I could, the Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer charity have just raised £1m for the Birmingham hospitals so we wanted to get involved to help raise even more for new resources.”

Recently the Emma J Steven team hosted an incredible event at their salon in Sutton Coldfield to raise awareness, money and to also launch their new specialised hair room for clients that are suffering from cancer and the effects that their treatments have on their hair.

As part of their new specialised hair room they will be offering a hair loss programme were trained stylists can work with clients right through from when their hair starts to fall out, to fitting and cutting and styling wigs and then on to help with the re-growth of new hair.

Emma continues:

“I’ve previously worked with ladies with hair loss due to treatment and we want to continue to try and help people as many people as we can right from when they lose their hair, to choosing and styling wigs to working with the re-growth of hair. People also like to change their style after treatment as it really helps them feel like they’ve beaten the C word! It’s a great chance to reinvent yourself and we like to be able to offer that to women, so we opened our specialised hair room specifically for these amazing ladies. Its great working with people who you can really make difference to.  To make them feel like a new person and happy again!”

They asked women coming into the salon on the day to donate their bras, the more bras collected, the more money is raised for Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer! In total an amazing £212 was raised on the day.

The whole day was a truly glamorous affair as local businesses also took part in the fund raising event. Not only were the Emma J Steven team on hand to style guests hair they also had make up demonstrations from CID Cosmetics London, a wine and specialist gin tasting experience from Cellar Door, Terryterry jewellery showcasing Christmas gift packs and a specialised underwear booth set up by Sipsey Lingerie that offered gorgeous underwear for women that have had a mastectomy as well as their regular collections.

Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer is a local charity that is run by organised volunteers with backgrounds in fundraising. Established in 2000 by Veronica Kumeta and the late Sue Macmaster after their friend Carol Knaggs was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, they work exclusively with Queen Elizabeth Birmingham. The charity actively helps improve the lives of people affected by breast cancer encouraging the local community to host events and raise awareness and money for this worthy cause.

Fundraising all year round, all the money donated stays within the West Midlands, helping Breast Cancer patients within a 70-mile radius to the hospital.

You can also donate money via text by messaging ‘LFBC12’ with the amount you’d like to donate to 70070.
