KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City entrepreneur is opening the first-of-its-kind lingerie line which is specifically for transgender customers.

For the past 13 years, Peregrine Honig sold lingerie at her shop in the Crossroads.

It wasn’t until her friend, who was transitioning, recently pointed out there’s an entire group not being served.

“None of it is made specifically for trans bodies,” Honig said.

That’s why she started “All is Fair in Love and Wear,” a lingerie and compression line specifically for people in the transgender community.

Laura Treas teamed up with Honig as the line’s designer after years creating post-surgery compression garments.

Treas said there’s a purpose behind every seam.

“You don’t want female garments because of the way your hips are built, these garments are designed specifically for this group,” said Treas.

The shop will open soon, just down the street from Honig’s lingerie shop. The line and location will be a place where trans men and women can feel comfortable.

“It’s for them. Instead of having to go into a department where you don’t feel like you actually belong, that would make someone very uncomfortable. This way, this is just for that group,” said Treas.

After two transgender women were murdered in Kansas City in the past year, “All is Fair” aims to make individuals feel safe and secure.

“I think we as a city can just benefit by making everyone feel good in their skin and well cared for,” Honig said.

Once open later this year, the two will design, sell and manufacture the garments in Kansas City.
