Nude-colored bras are a staple in a lot of women’s closets. Yet more often than not, “nude” has come to represent exclusively light shades in the human body’s wide spectrum of skin tones.
Nubian Skin, a lingerie company, has set out to fix this problem, by creating a line specifically for women of color. The line, which released in September online and in Europe, arrived in the U.S. at Nordstrom on Wednesday.

Lingerie shades in the line vary widely to include tones for medium- to dark-skinned women. From push-up and T-shirt bras to matching panties and tights, more women will be able to own underwear that blends with their skin.
“It is something that is such a basic need, yet wasn’t available! I knew that I couldn’t be the only one who felt the same way – so I decided to create it,” founder Ade Hassan tells Mashable.

Nubian Skin’s website includes a guide to skin tones, ranging from Berry to Caramel, which explains which you would buy depending on what makeup shade you use. This is the tactic Hassan used to decide on the different colors in the first place.
“‘Nude’ is the color of your skin. There isn’t one nude for all,” says Hassan.
