Rosie Huntington-Whiteley may be a supermodel, actress and the long term girlfriend of Hollywood action hero Jason Statham but when it comes to her lingerie line, she insists she’s very down to earth.

The beauty, 28, who has long designed a range of underwear for Marks Spencer, told The Sunday Times that when she’s coming up with ideas for her silky separates, she’s got real women in mind. 

She said: ‘At heart, I think I’m the girl from Devon still, so it’s much more interesting for me to make something for the people I really relate to.’

The supermodel, who has worked for top fashion houses including Balmain, Michael Kors and Burberry, says her Rosie for Autograph lingerie is designed with real women in mind, and is aimed at all age groups

Cut from silk, French lace and inspired by the model’s own personal collection of exquisite vintage lingerie, on the surface Rosie’s range doesn’t sound like one typically aimed at the ‘everywoman’ 

And despite her LA life jumping from catwalks to film sets – she recently starred in Mad Max: Fury Road – her heart is still in the west country.

‘Deep down, I feel much more comfortable in my welly boots with my mum up a field than I do at some fancy red-carpet event in Hollywood,’ she said.

The 5ft 9in beauty was speaking before the autumn 2015 collection of her Rosie for Autograph range to appears in stores in August.

Since launching in 2012, her underwear line has sold more than 1.4 million pieces, according to reports. 

She puts it down to her involvement in every step of the process, rather than just slapping her name on the finished product.

Rosie has been dating action movie star Jason Statham since 2010, and currently lives with him in LA

She even Skypes MS ‎Head of Lingerie Design Soozie Jenkinson on a daily basis from her home in LA to check on proceedings.

‘People are smart. They can smell a celebrity collaboration that’s just about the money,’ she said.

Designer Soozie concurs. Talking about the range at launch, the lingerie expert noted how Rosie wanted her undies to be something her mum would wear too.

‘Honest’ and ‘authentic’ are the buzzwords the supermodel uses to describe her own line, and it would appear that ethos is paying off for MS.

Cut from silk, French lace and inspired by the model’s own personal collection of exquisite vintage lingerie, on the surface her range doesn’t sound like one typically aimed at the every-woman.

But, according to MS, the bestselling sizes in the Rosie for Autograph range correlate with the UK national average – a size 14 bottom and 36C bra.

The high street chain, which is where Rosie says she bought her own first bra as a teenager, has also claimed that as many as one in 50 women in Britain all own at least one piece of the model’s wares.

Rather than leave all the hard designing work to the Marks Spencer’s team, and just slap her name on the finished product, Rosie says she’s been involved in every inch of the process for this collaboration

Three years after its initial launch, Rosie for Autograph remains the top-seller in the store’s pants department. 

Rosie has expanded into sleepwear and loungewear too, and now there’s even a Rosie for MS perfume, launched in January.

Expected to be another sell-out, the next Rosie for MS range will hit stores in August.
