With the further development of companies like Voodoo Leatherworks and The Locker Room, the sex-positive in Colorado Springs continue to carve out some turf in this here mountain-lined Field of Fundamentalism.
More is on the way, however, this Aug. 8, when the Rocky Mountain Summer Sexpo 2015 takes over the Sick Puppy Saloon. Organized by 2 Pros Marketing and Events, which also throws events like the Pin-Up Car Wash, the expo will include DJs, body painting, fire throwing, burlesque dancing, “fetish tastings,” sex toys, lingerie and more, says co-organizer Nohea March.
“Who doesn’t love sex?!” she writes in an email. “But no, really, we were thinking about different events that we would love to see here in COS, that we just don’t have. Usually you have to go to Denver or other big cities. We have been successful bringing in new events to COS that have not been here before and Sexpo is hopefully going to be another one.
“It is for anyone that likes sex whether we are talking traditional ‘vanilla’ sex or for those that delve more into the darker or kinkier sides. The venue is great because it is a neutral location for those of all tastes to explore and see what they might be missing and want to include in their life or maybe for those that are more risqué to find others in town with the same interests and locations and organizations that support those lifestyles.”
The “fetish tasting” comes courtesy of Voodoo, which plans to offer looks at candle wax, spanking, flogging, whips, blindfolds and the like. March also hopes “to get a local porn star involved” and get Planned Parenthood to host its Sex Trivia there as well.
“This is new to COS, at least as far as I know,” March writes. “We love doing things out of the box and so this is just another area of events that we have now cracked into.
“We have our Pride Fest, we have our fetish clubs and organization, etc. But we haven’t had an event that is open to singles, couples, LGBT community or not, men or women. Our events are about bring COS community together and we hope that we can do that by not having one group stand out and just coming together because hell, who doesn’t love sex?! Who doesn’t love learning new things about sex and challenging themself in the bedroom?! This is your opportunity to do just that. So come alone, come with your SO, come as a group, etc.”
Tickets to the 21-and-up event are $15.
